Hello everybody!
Now as summer and the IPE are both over, our thoughts turn toward Fall and Winter activities and more specifically, curling! We have a busy September planned.
IPE Lounge
Our upstairs lounge was open during the entire run of the fair – at least until 10:00 pm at night. A huge thank you to Wayne Holt for organizing the bar help and Terri Nicholson for organizing the door greeters, and everyone who helped make this another successful initiative!
First Annual Recreation Fair.
This coming Saturday (September 9th, 2023) our club is hosting the first annual Armstrong Recreation Fair. This is an event that showcases many of the local clubs and recreational activities that are available in our community. Groups representing activities as varied as theatre, 4H, Music and car clubs will be in attendance! While many of you are happy with curling – and we don’t expect you to abandon curling to take up competitive cake decorating – we would like you to help publicize the event. Tell your friends and neighbors about it, and maybe drag your favourite couch potato down to the event. The Curling Club Lounge will be open for visiting and maybe a post-visit drink!
To kick-start the event there will be a Lion’s Club pancake breakfast starting at 8:00 am. The Recreation Fair runs from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Pig Roast Fundraiser
Our Second Annual Pig Roast is happening on Saturday, September 16th. Details are available on the website. Get your tickets by phoning Derrell Sears at 250-309-6963 to reserve! Payment is easy . Just e-transfer your funds to [email protected]. Doors open at 5:00 pm. See you there!
Registration!
This year we have multiple options for registration. You can register online, come into the club during normal business hours any time after September 18th or come down to our Registration Night Wine and Cheese on Friday, September 22nd , starting at 6:00 pm.
We are excited to be offering online registration this year. It’s really simple! Go to the website and on the top-left corner of the page, in the red banner, you will see “Register Now”. Click on it and it will take you to the registration page. Pick your leagues and follow the cues to either pay online, by e-transfer, or come in and pay at the club. The only tricky part is when you have picked your league and try to complete the transaction, there will be a prompt that says, “more information required”. This is your prompt to click on it, and that takes you to a page so that you can tell the program who you are – this section is called the Curler Profile. Then you can finish your purchase. We are doing online this year to take pressure off the Wine and Cheese social event – make it more of a social event, and less of a stand in line clutching pieces of paper type of event.
For anyone contemplating upgrading their curling skills there will be a two-day seminar on October 7th and 8th. The seminar will run from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm and will be hosted by Derrell Sears. Cost is a nominal $25.00.
