Armstrong Curling Club hosts Open House and Banquet
Fri Mar 24th, 2017 9:30am
The Armstrong Curling Club has a lot to celebrate this year.
The current building has turned 50 years old, there has been 120 years of documented curling in Armstrong, Spallumcheen is 125 years old and Canada is 150. So mark your calendars for the festivities May 26, 27 and 28.
“On all three days, we invite you to take a trip down memory lane with historical displays in our rink area. Storyboards will line the walls, and tables will display stories, pictures and memorabilia,” said Terri Nicholson, one of the organizers.
“We will have booths for the Township of Spallumcheen, AFG Financial, other curling clubs and hopefully a celebrity table. There will be an activity area for younger children and the 2018 grads will host a concession out of our kitchen. Upstairs in our lounge, we invite you to relax with a cool beverage and to visit with friends, new and old.”
The open house will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
And on May 27, there will be a banquet catered by the Armstrong Ladies Club with live entertainment and dance music to follow. Terri Stevens, a female impersonator, will perform, along with his co-star Farrah Moan. Music is provided by Pingo. Doors will open for the banquet at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and entertainment beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at Chocoliro, Shamrock Books and Final Touch, until mid May or until sold out.
“The dinner is limited to 200, with additional tickets available for people to come after the dinner for the entertainment and dancing only,” said Nicholson. “Come for the whole evening of dinner, entertainment and dancing for $30 per person or arrive later for the entertainment and dancing for $20 per person. We guarantee a good time will be had by all.”

“Come one, come all and celebrate the importance curling has played in this community and in Canada for more than 100 years,” said Nicholson.
